    Ils étaient que trois athlètes qui représentaient l'athlétisme saoudien ayant réalisés les minima requis par l'IAAF dans les épreuves du 60m, 60m haies et du 400m. Par mal chance au cours de l'échauffement, le coureur du 400m s'est blessé à l'ischio deux jours avant le départ de la compétition, ce qui rend sa participation à l'épreuve impossible. Les athlètes saoudiens étaient loin de penser faire de la figuration, leurs performances présentaient une certaine consistance qui leur donnaient pleins d'ambition. Une compétition qui permet aussi aux athlètes Saoudiens de se mesurer aux meilleurs athlètes mondiaux. Leur participation a conduit à une prestation honorable où ils ont passé le cap des qualifications et atteint les demi-finales.

    Depuis les premiers championnats du monde d'athlétisme en salle en 1985 à Paris, disputés pour la première fois sous le nom des "Jeux mondiaux en salle 1985" (IAAF World Indoor Games) jusqu'aux derniers mondiaux de Birmingham en 2018, l'Arabie Saoudite n'a pu décrocher qu'une seule médaille de l'histoire des mondiaux d'athlétisme en salle. Il a fallu attendre Valence 2008, pour décrocher la première médaille en bronze dans l'épreuve du saut en longueur par l'athlète Mohammed Al Khuwaildi, ancien recordman d'Asie en salle avec 8.24m et l'actuel recordman en plein air avec 8.48m.

    They were only three athletes who represented Saudi athletics in the 60m, 60m hurdles and the 400m events. By bad luck during the warm-up, the 400m runner injured the hamstring two days before the start of the competition, making his participation in the event impossible. Saudi athletes were far from thinking of figuring, their performances had a certain consistency that gave them full ambition. This competition that also allows Saudi athletes to compete against the best athletes in the world. Their participation led to an honorable performance where they passed the qualification step and reached the semi-finals.
    Since the first World Indoor Athletics Championships in 1985 in Paris, established for the first time under the name of the "1985 World Indoor Games" (IAAF World Indoor Games) until the last World Indoor Championships in Birmingham 2018, Saudi Arabia was only able to win one medal in the history of the indoor athletics world Championships. It was until Valencia 2008, to win the first bronze medal in the long jump event by athlete Mohammed Al Khuwaildi, former Asia indoor record holder with 8.24m and the current record holder in outdoor with 8.48 m.
