Arab countries Participation in Doha World
Championships (Qatar) 2019
We still have usually of noting the low participation of Arab nations in major international high-level competitions, which can often be explained foremost by standards that have become difficult to reach by the constant level of athletes, it also reflects a reality that proves that athletics is not doing well in Arab nations.
The Arab countries once again represent a low participation rate at the World athletics championships in Doha. For Men, they are 67 athletes for 17 Arab countries present for this world sports event (absent in 8 out of 24 events) and 21 athletes in women for the same number of countries (absent in 14 out of 24 events). Their participation, as usual is concentrated in the middle distance events (800m, 1500m, 5000m and 3000m Steeple).
For a large number of countries in the Arab league which has still experienced great world and Olympic champions, athletics remains the discipline "the present absent" in major sporting events. Until now, this significant absence in numbers and in events does not worry anyone to improve or adopt other clearer and more effective reforms in view of a new specific development for a better future of this discipline.
