Benhammouda et Chenitef sur la deuxième marche du podium des championnats du monde des U20 à CALI 2022.

Les Championnats du monde U20, ont pris fin en Colombie. Plus de 1500 participants provenant des six continents ont participes à ce rendez-vous qui est considéré comme les championnats des U20 les plus relevés depuis bien des années.

La formation algérienne composée d’une équipe modeste de dix athlètes garçons et deux filles ayant réalisés les critères requis par la fédération internationale d’athletisme.

En tenant compte d’un haut niveau mondial de compétition diffèrent de l’édition précédente de 2021 à Nairobi, la participation algérienne était dans l’ensemble acceptable et marquée par une certaine dynamique du groupe qui a permis de décrocher deux medailles d’argent sur le (800m et 10.000m marche) et un finaliste au 3000m Steeple.

La belle prestation aussi de l’athlète Chenitef Heithem avec une deuxième médaille en argent en finale du 800m est notamment à retenir. Déjà au mois de mai dernier à Tunis au championnat arabe des U20, avait donné la preuve de son talent en décrochant la médaille d’or avec un temps de 1:48.79.

Cette deuxième place de Heithem au championnat du monde de Cali représente aussi une nouvelle marque de renforcement pour le demi-fond et l’athletisme algérien.

Il est à noter aussi la 8^e place en finale du 3000m steeple de l’athlète Daoud Abderrahmane avec un chrono encourageant de 8:49.69.

     Le marcheur, Benhammouda vient s’inscrire son nom parmi les futurs leaders de la marche en remportant la médaille d’argent de l’épreuve du 10.000m marche lors de ces championnats. Un résultat symbolique pour la marche algérienne après de longues années loin de la scène internationale. L’épreuve de la marche athlétique Algérienne réapparait après une période de stagnation et de manque de réussite au niveau des trois catégories dans les échéances officielles. C’est une discipline qui fait partie de manière intégrante de l’athletisme. Elle a fait aussi la réputation de l'athlétisme algérien, notamment au niveau africain et sur le plan des compétitions internationales. Même si des pays comme ceux d’Europe, d’Asie ou d’Amérique du sud dominent la discipline, la marche athlétique reste l’une des disciplines les plus universelles des sports. Des nations plus petites surpassent régulièrement certaines des superpuissances de l’athlétisme. Après une période d’absence sur la scène continentale et internationale, l’épreuve de marche a enfin retrouvé un bon nouveau de départ en glanant une deuxième place au champion du monde d’athletisme des U20, avec l’excellente participation de notre jeune marcheur Benhammouda Ismail détenteur de la 3^e. meilleure performance mondiale (41:54.82) sur la Topliste de l’année 2022 qui précédait la date de ce grand rendez-vous. C’est un athlète qui promet beaucoup pour les années à venir.

The U20 World Championships have come to an end in Colombia. More than 1500 participants from six continents took part in this great meeting, which is considered the most prestigious U20 championships for many years.

The Algerian formation composed of a modest team of ten male and two female athletes having realized the criteria required by the International Athletics Federation. Taking into account a high world level of competition different from the previous edition of 2021 in Nairobi, the Algerian participation was overall acceptable and by a certain general dynamic which made it possible to win two silver medals on the (800m and 10,000m walk) and a finalist in the 3000m Steeplechase.The beautiful performance also of the athlete Chenitef Heithem with a second silver medal in the 800m final should be noted in particular. Already last May in Tunis at the Arab U20 Championship, had given proof of his talent by winning the gold medal with a time of 1:48.79.This second place for Heithem in Cali, also represents a new mark of reinforcement for the middle distance and algerian athletics.        Benhammouda registered his name as a future leader by winning the silver medal in the 10.000m walk at the World Athletics Championships in Cali, Colombia. A symbolic result for the Algerian athletic walking after long years away from the international scene.
